Utah Partnerships

Since 2016, Utah STEM Action Center recognized ST Math as one of six programs to contain individualized, self-adapting, and engaging instructional support that addresses the Utah Core Standards for Mathematics. The STEM Action Center is seeking grant applications from February 1 through March 31, 2025.

What is ST Math?

ST Math is a PreK-8 visual instructional program that leverages the brain’s innate spatial-temporal reasoning ability to solve mathematical problems.

With ST Math, students build deep conceptual understanding, and schools see proven, repeatable results.

Our approach aligns with brain-based learning principles, fostering deep understanding and critical thinking. By moving beyond traditional methods of math education, we create inclusive, engaging learning environments that ensure students become innovative problem-solvers, making math a joyful experience, and significantly improving learning outcomes.

Success Spotlight

After completing ST Math learning objectives, students in Utah schools on average scored higher on math post-quizzes than pre-quizzes. In 2024, the average pre-quiz score is 54.93 and the average post-quiz score is 64.38. Hence the average quiz score grew by 9.45 percentage points and associated average effect size is 0.37 which is deemed by What Works Clearinghouse as substantively important.

Teachers have been able to see how math concepts can be modeled conceptually through ST Math games. There have been many occasions when I am collaborating with teachers about a math concept and we bring up specific ST Math games that show the math conceptually. We discuss how we can use them as a resource for both whole group and individual student instruction.
